It doesn’t seem a year since I issued the last Chairman’s report, but a lot has happened during this time. It has been a year of two parts due to COVID 19.
In the period May 2019 through to December 2019, in addition to the Open Evenings, we saw around 60 members enjoy our regular Skittles Nights, 66 joined us for the Christmas Lunch and a full house attended the Summer Tea Party. Well done to everyone.
The main purpose of our Club is to aid recovery and wellbeing by arranging social events, which I hope you agree we have done. In addition we provide help and assistance to patients in need and this year (despite COVID 19) we have continued to supply Wiltshire Farm Foods, Continence aids, Pressure Cushions etc., offered funding for Psychological Support and continued to arrange confidential one-to-one patient chats with a fellow patient.
Patients/carers etc. can access information about the ABC Club on our Website (www.warwickabc.co.uk) which is based on the very successful new Club leaflet we created a while ago. Also, we now feature on the Hospital Visual display screens in the Aylesford Unit, the Outpatients Area.
We have always been compliant with the Hospital’s Patient Confidentiality rules but recently there have been a raft of new Government legislation known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) this has meant that more paperwork had to be compiled to ensure we continue to incorporate these requirements.
Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 and following the Hospital and Government directives issued in order to protect our members health and welfare, we have had to cancel the planned events calendar for 2020.
Assuming we can get back to normality for 2021, we will try to carry these events over to next year.
Thank you so much everyone for your continued support, without you the Club would not be as successful as it is.
Take care all of you and best regards.
