At the end of our eleventh year I am pleased to be able to report to you on our most successful year yet in that we have been in a position to help even more patients through some difficult times in their lives and at the same time we saw a steady increase in the attendance at our enjoyable social events.
Proof of this can be measured by a substantial increase in expenditure on patient support, some £2000 plus in the last 12 months compared to less than half that the year before. Judging by the many messages received by our colorectal nursing team our help has been very gratefully received.
For the very first time our outgoings have exceeded our income, which is good from the point of view that the Club is achieving its aims but it is something we must keep an eye on with respect to fund raising.
To celebrate our 10th birthday we held a very successful tea party at Claverdon last summer, so much so, many of you asked us to arrange another party this year. It will be on 16th June. Entrance will be by pre- purchased tickets only so that we can control the catering costs better.
There are many more events this year so please read the calendar we sent to you and support us as much as you can.
We are now planning to make the ABC Club more visible to patients, both present and future, by producing a new leaflet describing what the Club is about (completed) and to upgrade our website more in line with the new leaflet.
Sadly we lost a valued Committee member, John Russell. It was a measure of how much the ABC Club meant to John that he requested contributions to our Club instead of flowers. As a lasting memory of his work with us we now have a Laptop and Projector to help with the various presentations the Club arranges.
If any of you would like to join us on the Committee please let me know, fresh ideas are always welcome.
Thank you all for all your support, your help does make a difference to our fellow patients and their carers.
